We are proud to have a curriculum which stimulates our children into asking searching questions, shapes their learning and enables them to develop into independent thinkers and learners. We realise the importance of every minute of every day that they spend with us, and fill it with experiences that ‘think outside the box’ in their creativity and innovation.
Developing the holistic child is of upmost importance and, with this in mind, our broad and balanced curriculum encompasses not only academic subjects, but sport, the arts and Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Education. We are particularly proud of the respect and care that our children show for one another, the environment and the community around us.
We provide a wide range of activities and opportunities for our children to ensure they make progress academically, socially, physically and morally. We endeavour, through our school curriculum, to stimulate our pupils’ interests and imagination and motivate them through a high standard of teaching and learning to realise their potential and achieve success.
Our community is at the heart of our teaching and learning, and encourages involvement with the local churches, the library, the army barracks and Tesco, amongst others, to add an extra dimension to our children’s learning.
We have excellent links with the local junior school; our good understanding of the children’s knowledge and skill level helps effective transition, amongst other joint events between the two schools.
Throughout the school, opportunities are regularly taken to extend the curriculum beyond our statutory requirements. These include:
- Visitors, musicians, and themed assemblies by visitors
- Use of the outdoor classroom, Forest Schools and locality/wider environment
- Educational visits, trips to museums and other places of interest to support the curriculum
- Parental support in classrooms
- STEM projects
